Straum Introduces Four New Jan Mayen Models Inspired by Arctic Phenomena

March 25th, 2025, Oslo – Straum presents four new additions to the Jan Mayen collection: Meltwater Teal, Alpine Glow, Tundra Brown, and Aurora Sky. Each model draws from the natural tones and atmospheric shifts of the Norwegian Arctic, expressed through a striking vertical texture and color gradients. The release window will be open for exactly one week, beginning today, March 25, 2025 at 13:00 UTC, and closing on April 1, 2025 at 13:00 UTC.

A glimpse into the Arctic

Aurora Sky

Jan Mayen Aurora Sky captures the ephemeral beauty of the northern lights dancing across the sky on a cold winter night. The dial’s vertical linear wave pattern mirrors the rippling lights, shifting in brightness as charged particles interact with the Earth’s magnetic field. Deep blues and vibrant greens emerge as energetic collisions between solar wind particles and atmospheric gases trigger chemiluminescence.

Alpine Glow

Jan Mayen Alpine Glow mirrors the quiet transformation as the sun dips below the horizon, its last light clings to ice and sky, creating a fleeting glow of pink and blue—capturing a moment of warmth before the cold night settles in.

Meltwater Teal

Jan Mayen Meltwater Teal captures the transformation of melting glaciers with a dial gradient of crisp white to teal. Its vertical texture reflects the patterns shaped by flowing water, where ice fractures, melts, and merges into the sea.

Tundra Brown

Jan Mayen Tundra Brown captures the exposed rock faces of Svalbard, where iron-rich sandstone and shale darken as they meet air and time. The vertical texture mirrors the marks left by erosion, with light catching on every ridge—shifting, fading, and returning, just like the landscape itself.
