Delivery & Tracking

All orders are shipped with DHL Express, and delivery typically takes 1–7 days depending on your location. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email from DHL containing shipment confirmation and tracking details so you can monitor the estimated delivery date.

Shipping to the United States (DDP)

  • We ship U.S. orders 'DDP' (Delivered Duties Paid), which means you will not face any unexpected customs duties or import charges.
  • Depending on your state, sales tax may be applied at checkout if legally required.
  • If you return your watch, customs duties you’ve already paid cannot be refunded. Any duties, taxes, or fees that we've incurred will be deducted from your refund.

Important: U.S. customs officials may require your Social Security Number or Tax ID to clear your shipment. We cannot override or avoid this request. If you do not provide the requested information when asked, your shipment will be returned to us and you will be responsible for any related shipping fees for the return.

  • Payment of Duties & Fees: These charges are typically paid on delivery. If you return your watch, we cannot refund duties or other import-related fees, and any charges we incur will be deducted from your refund.

Important: Customs officials in your country may require a Tax ID or similar documentation. We cannot override or avoid such requests. If you do not provide the requested information, your shipment will be returned to us and you will be responsible for any related shipping fees.

Customs Policies & Regulations

Customs policies vary widely between countries. For countries other than the United States and Switzerland, we recommend contacting your local customs office for details about potential import duties or restrictions. When ordering from straum.co, you are deemed the importer of record and must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the destination country. This also applies to customers in Norway.

Refund policy

Return and Refund Policy

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return. Note that there might be exceptions, which will be explicitly stated on the product page. These exceptions also apply to the European Union 14-day cooling-off period.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it—unworn or unused, with tags and protective films, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. For partially fulfilled orders, the date of delivery applies on a per-item basis. If the watch is returned in perfect condition, but the strap has been used or marked, a refund will only be granted on the watch. Please note all returned watches are examined under a high level of magnification to check for surface scratches due to the highly polished nature of a number of our cases.

To start a return, please contact our customer support at support@straum.co.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Refunds are processed in the original payment currency. We do not cover any variations in refund amounts due to changes in currency exchange rates. If you return your watch, any customs duties you’ve already paid cannot be refunded. Likewise, any duties, taxes, or fees that we've incurred will be deducted from your refund.

You can always contact our customer support for any return questions.

Damages and Issues

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / Non-returnable Items

Certain types of items cannot be returned, such as custom products (special orders or personalized items). Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on gift cards.

Exchanges

The quickest method to obtain your desired item is to return your existing one. Once your return is approved, you can purchase the new item separately.

European Union 14 Day Cooling Off Period

If the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it—unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Exceptions: Certain pre-ordered products are bespoke and made-to-order, so the regular 14-day return window does not apply.

Refunds

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact our customer support.

Capturing nature

The Arctic Blue Dial

Jan Mayen Arctic Blue captures the vast Arctic Ocean enveloping Jan Mayen with its icy currents and ferocious power. The intricate radial texture manifests the crashing waves constantly battering the island's coastline.

We carefully sculpt every dial detail in CAD software and then CNC machine a series of stamping tools with increasing fidelity. These are then used to stamp brass blanks in multiple stages, adding finer and finer details. Next, we apply multiple coatings, lacquers and fumés to establish depth and dimension. A final layer of clear coat is polished to a glass-like finish, resulting in a truly captivating visual experience.

The applied logo and indices ensure contrast and legibility, while the ultra-sharp diamond-cut hands complement the intricately finished watch case. Additionally, all elements are coated with applied Super-LumiNova BGW9 for optimal visibility.

Expedition-tested

Integrated bracelet

The bracelet is specially designed to endure the harsh conditions of the Arctic with its custom-engineered structure. It is made from Stainless Steel 316L and features a seamless integrated design that tapers from 24.8mm to 18mm at the buckle, ensuring a comfortable and snug fit on your wrist. The push-button butterfly clasp is custom-designed and seamlessly integrated, providing a sleek and secure closure for the bracelet. The two 130% links also allow for a precise and tailored fit to your wrist. Whether you're out in the wilderness or in the city, this bracelet is built to last and will withstand even the harshest environments.

Expedition-tested

Case

The watch case combines durability, functionality, and aesthetics. It is crafted from 316L stainless steel, which provides resistance to corrosion and wear, ensuring long-lasting performance and reliability. With a diameter of 39mm, it offers a comfortable and practical size for everyday wear. The sunburst bezel frames the double-domed sapphire crystal, which provides exceptional scratch resistance and ensures crystal-clear visibility of the dials. The grippy screw-down crown ensures that the 10ATM water resistance is maintained.

The movement

LJP G101

The Jan Mayen collection utilizes the LJP G101 by La Joux-Perret, renowned for its high level of precision and quality, as well as its 68-hour power reserve. The time-only display provides an uninterrupted view of the watch face. The movement is graded Soigné and adjusted to four positions, ensuring accurate timekeeping. The movement and engraved rotor are visible through a sapphire window screw-down caseback.

The packaging

The Capsule

Every Jan Mayen comes bundled with a Straum Capsule, designed to keep your watch protected against the elements and is machined from a single block of aluminium and surface treated with a HA1 Hard Anodization process to increase durability.

Reviews
"As a long-time fan of both Fratello and the microbrand scene at large, I really dig this latest LE with Straum, a brand that hit my own radar with their previous Opphav line."

“It's all about that dial. It's very unique.”
"It's amazing. I love it. It's like Grand Seiko, but evil."
"The blue [dial] that transitions from a bright azure blue to deeper, darker hues at the edges is simply mesmerizing. The casework is solid, with sharp transitions and attention to detail, like radial brushing on the bezel."
